Brief Introduction
Early morning I left Sukhotai and went to Si Satchanalai Historical Park,by tuk tuk I went to Bus station and took bus from there to Si satchanalai historical park.the evening before I talked to staff at hotel I stayed the way to Si stachanali historical Park we can go thre by bus then stop at bus stop and walk quite far to the ctemple complex or rent car.I chose took bus it only cost below USD 5 if rent car for 6 hour it cost above USD 50 (this cost at my trip on October 2014) The Si Satchanalai Historical Park was located in The Si Satchanalai district,sukhotai province,northern Thailand.this city was built in 1250 CE as the second city after Sukhotai as the capital of Sukhotai kingdom.and become the residence of the crown prince of Sukhotai in 13th and 14th centuries. same like Sukhotai Historical Park which has granted world heritage site by UNESCO Si Satchanalai Historical Park also has got the same title. What I like from si satchanalai this place is far less crowded than Sukhotail and Ayyuthaya historical Park especially which always full of tourist beside that because of the location this place didn’t experience same fate like Ayyuthaya which burned down during the war
Places Of Interest
1.Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat or Wat Si Mahathat Chaliang
This is the biggest Temple in Si satchanalai Temple Complex but the location is out of Si satchanalai Historical Park I visited this temple first.to get here I must walk more than 200 meter from bus stop.The main structure of this temple is Prang a Thai adopted Khmer styled gopura.this temple came from Khmer Empire King Jayavarman VII in 12 th CE who built this temple.there is big Buddha statue in centre of temple.around main structure there are smaller temple.
2.Wat Chedi Chet Thaeo
This temple is located inside Si satchanalai Historical Park name of this temple in Thai language is temple of seven rows of stupa.this nme came from because there 7 rows stupa in this temple if we count we an find 32 stupas of different sizes in different styles .compare with Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat this temple structure is far smaller.
3.Wat Chang Lom
if Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat temple was built by King Jayavarman VII from Khmer Empire wat chang lom is built by King Ramkhamhaeng from Sukhotai Kingdom in 1286 after Buddha’s relic was found in this site. if Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat have Khmer and Thai style Wat Chang Lom has style of Sri lanka name of this temple came from statues of 39 standing elephants around the first tier of stupa base when I visted Sukhotai historical Park I found temple with same style but smaller name Wat Chang Lom
