For tourists who want to know the history of Banking in Indonesia and see collections of old money they can visit Bank Indonesia museum which is located at Jl.Pintu Besar utara No.3 Jakarta Barat-Indonesia in Old City area close with Mandiri Bank Museum,Puppet Museum .Ceramic and Art museum,Fathillah Museum and Jakarta Kota Train Museum.
This building used to building for a dutch bank named de Javanesche bank after Indonesia Indepence this building changed ownership several times and in 2009 this building was made as a museum and open for public.
I visited Museum Bank Indonesia in Jan 5,2014 to enter this museum is free.there are some rooms in this museum the first room have pictures of world explorer began from Marcopolo from Venesia,Admiral Cheng Ho from Ming Dynasty (China),Juan Sebastian Del cano from Spain,Alfonso Del Alur que Que from Portugal,Cornelis De Houtman from Dutch and Sir Henry Middleton from British all the explorers have visited Nusantara old name from Indonesia in The past.
Nusantara is well known as spices sources.until 18 th century spices is expensive commodities and attracts merchant,sailors and explorers from all the world visited Nusantara to buy it and sold again in Europe.there is a big map which describe spices route trade hanging on the wall.
In other rooms we can see business activity like workers mixing cement,a mother made batik,
Another room we can see bank activities where people saving their money in the bank
In the last room we can see samples of paper money from different countries and replica of gold bar
How to get there
By Train : we can take local train from Bogor,Depok,Bekasi and stop at Jakarta kota Station from here only 5 minutes walk
By bus ; many bus and small bus we call it mikrolet go to this place the most convenient take busway it can be from Blok M,harmoni,Tanjung Priok
